Congressman and Flint native Dan Kildee to receive honors from LGBT community today

img_1563DETROIT – Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05) will be presented with the Catalyst Award from Equality Michigan, a civil rights and advocacy organization, for his work to promote equality tomorrow, Friday, December 2, 2016, in Detroit. The reception starts at 6:30 p.m. ET, and Congressman Kildee is expected to accept the award and deliver remarks to attendees at the reception at approximately 7:45 p.m. ET.
Congressman Dan Kildee, a champion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in Congress, is a Vice Chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus. In Congress, he was in the forefront of pushing to strike down the unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), extending civil rights protections to LGBT Americans and supporting marriage equality.
