Community Wellness Expo to Address Black Health and Economic Disparities

The Metro Detroit Chapters of The Links, Incorporated are uniting for a powerful cause—the Black Family Wellness Expo—set to take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center in Detroit. This initiative aims to reduce health and economic disparities in the Black community by providing crucial resources, health screenings, and expert-led discussions that can save and improve lives.

This local event is part of The Links, Incorporated’s national Black Family Wellness Expo movement, where chapters across the country will simultaneously host similar wellness initiatives. With a shared mission to improve health outcomes for Black families, this effort highlights the urgent need to address medical and social issues that disproportionately affect the community.

The Metro Detroit Black Family Wellness Expo will cover a range of health and wellness topics, including breast cancer awareness, men’s health, kidney health and screenings, menopause, mental health, diabetes, weight management, food as medicine, voter registration, estate planning, and financial planning.

In addition to health-focused discussions, the event will offer painting and art therapy, hustle dancing sessions, free tax services provided by the Accounting Aid Society, giveaways, and community service vendors. The first 50 families in attendance will receive a $25 gift card (one per family), and the first 100 guests will receive a healthy lunch.

This free event is open to the entire community, from infants to elders. Whether attendees need health screenings, financial guidance, or simply a day of wellness and community connection, the expo aims to provide essential resources for Black families.
