Bill Summers and Afro Horn MX with Francisco Mora Catlett will headline the two-day drum festival.
The summit will include simultaneous traditional drum performances from more than 15 cultural groups representing Metro-Detroit’s celebrated diversity. Attendees can expect to hear and dance to the sounds of African, Arabic, Caribbean, Indian, Japanese cultural music and more.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend onsite lectures, workshops and clinics. The event is free and open to the public.
According to museum officials, the drum festival is a family-friendly event.
Children’s activities are to be offered throughout both days, including an instrument making workshop hosted by Arts and Scraps from 1 to 5 pm.
