Renowned Detroit artist Hubert Massey will lead the installation of seven community themed mosaics on new baseball dugouts at Stoepel Park. This outdoor art gallery will be a unique work of public art inspired by and inspiring to the surrounding community and the thousands of people who visit the park each year.
At Stoepel Park No. 1 in Northwest Detroit. Stoepel Park is at the intersection of Evergreen and Outer Drive. The baseball fields are easy to access off Westwood St. which is the east end of the park.
“This project will be a wonderful opportunity to create a public gallery of art works at Stoepel Park. It will surely have a lasting impact on this community,” said Hubert Massey.
“We built eight new dugouts, so we have eight blank walls,” said Tom Goddeeris, Executive Director at GRDC. “Last year, we put a mosaic on one of those walls and it was a great experience for the kids who were involved. It was a natural fit to want to do more.”
This event takes place July 16, 17, and 18.
