Get ready for the ultimate family-friendly fall event as the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy presents the Detroit Harvest Fest & Food Truck Rally, featuring a delightful blend of activities for all ages. Taking place on Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. along the picturesque Dequindre Cut Greenway in Detroit, this year’s festival promises two days of Halloween-themed excitement.
Highlights of the festival include:
**Trick-or-Treating:** Children can enjoy trick-or-treating along the greenway, with 12 stations offering treats from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Costumed princesses and superheroes will also be available for meet-and-greets from 1 to 3 p.m.
**Live Music:** Five stages throughout the Dequindre Cut will showcase local artists from various genres, including soul, funk, R&B, pop, country, and rock. Musical performances will run all day each day, featuring acts like Larry Lee & Back in the Day Band (R&B/Party Music), The Motley Misfits (Circus Troupe), Bat Hearse (Gothabilly), and Fangs & Twang (Roots Rock), among others.
**Food Trucks:** The festival will host over 50 food trucks, offering a diverse range of cuisines, from Mediterranean and Italian to Mexican, vegetarian, soul food, gourmet desserts, and much more. Some participating trucks include Cousins Maine Lobster, Fork in Nigeria, Galindo’s, Wing Snob, Neplanta Café, The Balkin House, and The Detroit Original Seafood Truck. A complete list of food trucks will be available on the detroitharvestfest.com website.
**Family Activities:** Kids can explore inflatable bounce houses, an obstacle course, quarterback challenge, ax throwing, and Skeeball in the inflatables zone. Additionally, there will be a “Pick and Take” pumpkin patch, a pumpkin decorating station, a petting zoo with alpacas, donkeys, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, and bunnies, as well as hands-on activities in the Kids Tent area, including spooky crafts and Halloween glitter tattoos. All activities are included with the $5 admission fee.
**Cirque de Freight Yard:** For adults, the festival offers the popular Cirque de Freight Yard, featuring circus busker performers, a live music stage, psychics, tarot card readers, old-style carnival games, and specialty cocktails. New this year is a mechanical bull for adults to ride, and there will also be a costume contest for pets. The event takes place in a transformed Dequindre Cut Freight Yard.
**Soirée on the Greenway:** On October 6 from 6 to 10 p.m., guests can enjoy a sneak peek of Harvest Fest while supporting the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy at the Soirée on the Greenway fundraiser. This masquerade under the stars will feature delicious food, surprise live performances, tarot and crystal ball readings, a roaming exotic petting zoo, carnival games, interactive fall experiences, and the unveiling of a new mural by Detroit-based artist Joel Grothaus celebrating the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s 20th anniversary. VIP packages and main event tickets are available, and all contributions support the Conservancy’s mission. Soirée on the Greenway is a 21+ event.
Admission to the Detroit Harvest Fest & Food Truck Rally is $5 per person, with free entry for children under 3 years of age, seniors (65+), active-duty military, and veterans. The Dequindre Cut is easily accessible, with entrances located at Mack, Wilkins, Gratiot, Lafayette, Woodbridge, Franklin, and Atwater.
This marks the third consecutive year for the Detroit Harvest Fest & Food Truck Rally, which has grown in popularity, drawing 60,000 attendees last year.
“We’re thrilled that Detroit Harvest Fest has become one of the most anticipated and popular fall events throughout Metro Detroit,” said Mark Wallace, president and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. “People of all ages can come to the event because there is something for everyone. Kids enjoy trick or treating, the bounce houses, and hands-on activities, and adults love the diverse range of music styles and all the delicious food options.”
