Actor Hill Harper settled his $24,400 tax bill on his historic Charles T. Fisher mansion back in April as he contemplates a bid for the U.S. Senate.
Though neither his spokespeople nor he made an official announcement about Harper’s potential run, his advisor Rick Michaels stated that Harper settling his bill has nothing to do with his potential political aspiration.
“He is certainly is looking at this seriously, and that’s not necessarily news. And if you owe taxes, you’ve got to pay your taxes, right? But one doesn’t necessarily equate with the other,” Michaels said to the Detriot News on May 16. “Maybe he was busy filming in Canada and wasn’t focused on that until he gets home and sees the tax bill.”
Harper is considering running for current U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, who’s retiring. Other people seeking to fill the position include U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Lansing, Dearborn businessman Nasser Beydoun and attorney Zack Burns of Ann Arbor.
