Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently tested positive for COVID-19, according to an official statement.

Whitmer, who said that while she tested for COVID-19 she has reduced symptoms all due to her vaccinations.

“This evening, I tested positive for COVID-19,” she said in an email on the night of Monday, August 8.

“Thankfully, I am only experiencing mild symptoms after being fully vaccinated and twice boosted,” she said adding that after consulting with a state doctor she will follow proper guidance and protocols, while maintaining a remote schedule to “continue getting things done for the people of Michigan.”

“I last tested for COVID this afternoon (Monday), when I tested negative,” she said in the email. “Following standard protocol, all of my close contacts from today will be informed.”

I look forward to getting back to work in person, meeting with constituents, and keeping Michigan on the move,” she said. “I encourage my fellow Michiganders to get vaccinated and boosted.”
