DIFS: Growing Insurance, Financial Services Industries Offers New Jobs

As the economy continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is encouraging job seekers to consider a career in the state’s growing insurance and financial services industries. With the Michigan economy attracting new businesses in this sector, working families will have more opportunities to live, work, and serve right here in Michigan.

Recent data reported by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) shows that the Michigan financial activities sector, which includes both the insurance industry and financial services industries, added more than 4,400 new jobs in the first quarter of 2022, with 1,300 added in March alone. According to recent data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median hourly wage for Michigan financial sector jobs is approximate 55% higher than the median hourly wage earned by Michiganders in other sectors, meaning that Michiganders can expect competitive compensation when they grow their careers in the financial and insurance industries.
