(Founder and Philanthropist, Raphael Mostyn)

Another holiday to bring families together is underway for many metro Detroiters.

Local non-profit organization Mostyn Community Development (MCD) is shoveling in tons of incentives for families across Detroit. On December 4, 2021, at 1 p.m. MCD will unwrap several gifts for families in need. The distribution will happen at 16520 Wyoming St. in Detroit, MI. All items provided will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no stipulations and all donations are free.

MCD is hosting “Hats, Gloves, & Love”, an annual giveaway that helps families who are in need of warm clothing and toys. MCD plans to provide 300 coats, 350 hats, 350 gloves, and 300 Christmas gifts. For Owner and Community Philanthropist, Raphael Mostyn, “this time of year, my focus is to give as much as we can,” said Mostyn, “this time around, we are helping Santa provide gifts on each kid’s wish list.”

MCD encourages students to explore and grow in their educational and career journeys. MCD partners with schools, community centers, churches, school districts, other community organizations, and state departments to expand learning time and boost student achievement. MCD has a history of working with the Detroit Pistons, PEPSI, and several universities. MCD provides service and assistance in the following areas of academic enrichment for students deemed at-risk / underprivileged and special needs students: STEM and STEAM learning, career and leadership development, entrepreneurship, vocational training, community outreach, sports, and recreation.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a mask is required. All items will be distributed inside of the location. Each child is allowed one coat, one pair of gloves, one hat, and a toy per child. Children will be able to pick a toy of their choice. For more information or to volunteer, email
