All-Inclusive Grooming ‘Ivy Salon’ Set to Open

DETROIT —  The Ivy Salon is set for a grand opening in the coming days. The new shop is located along Woodward Ave. just three blocks south of Nine Mile Rd. in Ferndale.

“It’s much more to us than you know,” said, Anthony Chambers, co-owner of The Ivy Salon. “Ferndale has grown into the tissue connecting lifestyles and cultures in an 8 mile/Woodward area that historically divided people by color, creed, and socioeconomics. We intend to strengthen that tradition by providing an inclusive, supportive, and professional grooming atmosphere for ALL.”

He has made it his life’s work to provide engagement, opportunities, and process changes to introduce a level of equity to the most marginalized cultural groups. As a Detroit native he has always dreamed of opening a Salon in Metro Detroit. Chambers partnered with another real estate investor, and immediately started the ground work, under the vision of creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive grooming experience for the entire cross-section of the community.

The Ivy Salon can hold up to five hair stylists, an area for 2 make-up artists, and a massage therapist. The new business opens to customers, Monday, September 13th.
