Channel 4 News Anchor Rhonda Walker Delivers $35K in Scholarships

WDIV- TV 4 News Anchor, President and Founder of the Rhonda Walker Foundation, Rhonda Walker awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 2020 High School Graduates who have completed her award winning “Girls into Women” program.

Established in 2003 as a mentoring program designed to provide empowerment and life-changing experiences to inner-city teen girls, the Rhonda Walker Foundation continues their mission to remain “Fearless and Faithful” despite the COVID-19 Pandemic.  In compliance with Governor Whitmer’s mandated stay at home order, the foundation’s 14th Annual Scholar Power Scholarship event was cancelled but creativity ensued as they planned a surprise caravan to deliver the merited scholarship checks to the accomplished seniors. Members of the RWF board, directors, staff, and volunteers traveled to the home of each senior in celebration and support of the momentous occasion.

“… I am officially a graduate of the Rhonda Walker Foundation Girls into Women program. This program has been life changing for me in unimaginable ways. The scholarship parade was truly heartwarming! Thank you to all those who came to support and watch me earn $10,000.” Said 2020 graduate Makiah, who is attending University of Michigan in the fall.

Congratulations to all the recipients! For more information on joining the Rhonda Walker Foundation, please visit rhondawalkerfoundation.org.
