4th Annual Thank You Awards Reception recognizes longstanding local small Business Owners

Detroit Development Fund, Detroit Smart Pages Newspaper  and Fifth Third Bank today announced that they will again host the Fourth Annual “Thank You” Awards Ceremony recognizing Detroit longstanding neighborhood small business owners. Since 2015, the “Thank You” Awards has recognized over 150 small businesses and organizations throughout the city and thanked them for their investment, commitment and dedication to the communities and customers they serve. The awards ceremony and dinner will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Charles Wright Museum of African American History located at 315 E. Warren Ave. in Detroit.
City officials, community leaders and business owners will serve as Award Presenters. “Our goal is to bring together corporations, community leaders and city officials to meet, greet and say thank you to the businesses owners who have been instrumental in making it possible for the development and resurgence that’s now taking place in the city,” said Beverly Smith, publisher of Detroit Smart Pages Newspaper and the event founder.
“Small business is the backbone of the economy and Fifth Third Bank is proud to sponsor an event that recognizes the importance of entrepreneurship,” said David Girodat, Regional President, Fifth Third Bank in Eastern Michigan. “Detroit’s continued revitalization would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of the honorees.”
Lauren Sanders, former WDIV TV anchor and Lee Thomas of FOX2 TV will serve as Masters of Ceremony and this year’s event will feature Detroit’s Fashion Style, Then and Now. Three Special Awards will also be presented: The Fabric of Detroit Award: Focus: HOPE, The Corporate Citizen Award: Avinash Rachmale, LGC Global and the Community Engagement Award: Jimmy Settles. A special feature of this years’ Awards will take a look at Detroit’s Fashion Style Then and Now, showcasing some of Detroit’s fashion designers on the national stage and a notable Detroiter as one of its models.
