Detroit to celebrate redesigned McDonald’s Restaurants with grand re-openings


Ribbon cutting and special promotions to begin Friday, July 15

Detroit McDonald’s restaurant owner Errol Service will celebrate the grand re-opening of his newly redesigned restaurant located at 10400 Gratiot in Detroit on Friday, July 15.

 That morning from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Service will host a private reception with special guests State Senator Coleman Young II, Congressman John Conyers, Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence, City of Detroit Council President Brenda Jones, City of Detroit District 3 Councilman Scott Benson, McDonald’s regional staff, managers and crew. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. that will include a donation to the African American 490 Challenge, a program raising money to test Detroit’s remaining backlogged rape kits.


“I have always been passionate about giving back to the local community,” said Service. “I am humbled by the overwhelming support we have received from our customers and city and state officials.”


Immediately following the reception, the doors will open to the public at 12 p.m. The first 50 dine-in customers at the 24-hour restaurant will each receive a commemorative mug, 30-day restaurant event calendar and VIP key tag for a free pie with any Large Value Meal purchase, valid for one year. 


From 6 – 10:30 a.m., customers can purchase an Egg McMuffin for $1. Customers also will have the opportunity to enter-to-win a $75 gift card provided by Dr. Pepper from July 15 through August 15. The winner will be announced in late August. No purchase necessary.

  • 11 a.m. on Fri. July 15 – 2 a.m. on Sat., July 16 – $4.99 Big Mac Meal
  • 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Fri., July 15 – Face painting for children
  • Through August 4 –$1 Egg McMuffins from 6 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

In addition to the Gratiot location, Service owns and operates 14 McDonald’s restaurants in Detroit, Eastpointe, Harper Woods, Highland Park, St. Clair Shores and Warren.


Highlights of the remodeled restaurant include soft cushion seating, high-top tables, comfortable lighting, free Wi-Fi Internet, a flat screen TV and an updated décor throughout in cool colors of pale yellow, lime green and aqua blue. Youth will enjoy two new tables that feature free interactive games. The restaurant’s updated exterior landscaping complements the neighborhood and includes a dual lane drive-thru to increase efficiency for on-the-go customers.
