The hand delivery cookie company, My Secret Recipe, is providing consumers with a unique way of fulfilling their sweet tooth.
“At first, we were going to sell and ship cookies nationwide, but as a small startup, it just wasn’t cost effective to start that way,” said the young entrepreneur Christian Johnson. “So it made much more sense to start locally.”
Johnson, along with his mother Delores Johnson and their business partner Joyelle Johnson, are aiming to make their company larger than its current local market. The main areas of delivery are Southfield, Oak Park, Berkley, Lathrup Village and a few more.
The company is anticipating expansion soon to bigger cities, including Detroit.
“We want to be the Uber of cookies. There are a great number of baked goods other than cookies that we plan on incorporating into our menu as well,” said Christian. “Over the next three years we want to expand to other cities across the Midwest using the same delivery model.”
The company’s delivery method is unique and new to the baked goods industry. Orders must be placed between 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in available locations Monday through Friday. Orders are guaranteed to be delivered the same day, arriving within two hours of being placed.
The four flavors of cookies available for purchase are: patent pending peanut butter crunch, confidential coconut chocolate chunk, classified chocolate chip and rousin’ raspberry butter cookie.
“It’s Saturday morning at your mother or grandmother’s house and you wake up and smell a sweet aroma coming from the kitchen… although it’s breakfast time, she offers you a cookie anyways,” said Christian. “You take a bite and just like always, it melts in your mouth – My Secret Recipe delivers grandma’s house (cookies) on demand.”
