Craig, JamesTriumph Church, in conjunction with the B.A.L.L. Foundation, will host Detroit Chief of Police James E. Craig, on Saturday, February 21, 2015 with “Honor the Line: Bridging the Gap Between Youth and Law Enforcement.” The event will run from 12pm to 2pm at Triumph’s East Campus, located at 2760 East Grand Boulevard, at I-75, in Detroit.
“With Ferguson, Missouri and Michael Brown on the minds of so many recently, we felt it important to start a healthy dialogue in Detroit, with the goal of eliminating misplaced distrust and bridging the gap between our young people and law enforcement,” said Rev. Solomon Kinloch, Jr., the senior pastor of Triumph Church.
“We’re excited to help the B.A.L.L. Foundation and the Detroit Police Department bring this event to the city.”
The event will feature a keynote address from Chief Craig with a question and answer period, and break-out sessions to give youth a more intimate environment to role play and see the appropriate responses to law enforcement, regardless of the situation.
Radio personalities COCO and TUNE-UP from 105.9 Kiss, BIG GREG and FOOLISH from Hot 107.5, and CLIFF RUSSELL from WCHB will serve as event panelists and break-out session leaders. Other panelists include former Detroit Deputy Mayor Saul Green, retired US attorney and judge Jeffery Collins, former Detroit Pistons player Ray Scott, retired Michigan State Police captain Harold Love and a host of officers from the Detroit Police Department and the Michigan DNR.
Youth will also get a chance to register to win dozens of prizes, including an XBOX gaming console and an autographed basketball from the Detroit Pistons.
A host of city & neighborhood leaders will also be a part of the program. Admission to the event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Triumph Church at 313-386-8044 or visit http://www.triumphch.org/HonorTheLine.
