Holiday office parties often take place on weekdays after a full day of work. The key: finding an outfit that can transition easily from day to evening. “Remember, it is still a business environment, and professional dress is expected,” Neiman Marcus personal stylist Robin Finlay advises. “Too short, too tight, or too revealing are not appropriate.” She incorporated her tips into four looks.
Look 1: “The perfect day-to-evening look begins with the Escada tweed fitted jacket ($1,675),” Finlay says. She suggests pairing it with a black flannel pant and cashmere sweater for day, then changing into the Armani sparkle jersey top ($595) and cropped Alexander McQueen pants ($895) pictured. “This is certainly a more casual look but remains appropriate for an office holiday event,” she says. The look is finished with Prada suede pumps ($750) and a cross-body blue metallic bag from VBH ($2,350).
Look 2: “This Escada sheath dress ($1,850) is the perfect shade of green, not only a fall trend but holiday-ready,” Finlay says. She suggests toning it down for the office with a cashmere cardigan. “For an evening event, leave the cardigan at your desk and glam up with a statement necklace ($545) and stacking cuffs ($195, $395 and $245) from Alexis Bittar,” she says. A change into silver Christian Dior pumps ($790) and metallic Zagliani clutch ($2,335) make the look distinctly evening-appropriate.
Look 3: A print, jersey silk Etro dress ($1,560) has ruching that hides “a multitude of sins,” she says. She recommends minimal accessories with the busy look—a Christian Louboutin cross-body bag ($1,495) and grommet-detailed animal-print pump ($1,495).
Look 4: You can’t go wrong with a little black dress, like this one from Dolce & Gabbana ($1,725). “The perfect little black dress is a sleeveless slim sheath with round neckline. For day, the single-breasted jacket completes the look. For evening, leave the jacket at work and slip on the cashmere cardigan ($1,425) with crystal buttons,” she says. Prada pumps ($750), a rabbit-fur circlet ($495) and a Fendi clutch ($2,300) complete the look.
