One Hundred lucky winners left their neighborhood McDonald’s with their orders and a side of turkey, a whole frozen turkey that is. The Black McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association in conjunction with Mobile Media Marketing Group were responsible for the festive giveaway to spread holiday cheer throughout the community.
Every year Debra Virgiles along with other Black McDonald’s Owner Association members come together every Thanksgiving and purchase turkeys to give away to the community. Last year BMOA and M3G gave away over one thousand turkeys to church organizations and non-profits. This year the popular event included a raffle giveaway at five participating BMOA McDonald’s. Customers received raffle tickets as they walked in for a chance to win a free turkey. The event started at the grand re-opening of the Blvd. and Lodge Freeway location, and moved on to the Mack and I-75 location, Woodward and Willis, McNichols and Greenfield and concluded at the Grand River and Lahser store. Participants who did not win got a second opportunity to have their ticket number called at another location. Twenty turkeys were given out at each location and in total supported 100 families. “Having the event in the form of a raffle allows us to do something different. It adds more excitement, says Gavin Harrison, account representative for M3G.
Rodney Price CEO of M3G has been a vendor and partner with McDonald’s for the past 15 years and supports the cause by offering marketing behind the project through mobile billboards, staffing and a promotions crew. BMOA McDonald owners as well as M3G say that they would not exist with out the local community. “Its a time of year where we want to give thanks to the community and to all those who support what we do, and we are thankful for what we have. We give by supporting right back,” says, Price. Communities benefit from the dollars they spend through sponsored events like this.
