Greater Pontiac Community Coalition and McLaren Oakland to Host MLK Day Festivities

McLaren Oakland will proudly host a special ceremony concluding the 2014 Greater Pontiac Community Coalition’s Unity March in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20, 2013 in downtown Pontiac.
The 2013 Unity March is a part of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Week presented by the Greater Pontiac Community Coalition and sponsored by McLaren Oakland and The Oakland Press.
The Unity March, 9 – 9:30 AM
The march will begin at the Phoenix Plaza in downtown Pontiac and conclude at McLaren Oakland where a special ceremony will take place. The march is free and all residents are encouraged to attend. Continental breakfast will be provided on behalf of McLaren Oakland.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Luncheon, 11:15 AM – 2 PM

The luncheon will take place at St. George Cultural Center in Bloomfield. Oakland County Commissioner Mattie McKinney Hatchett is the featured speaker. Tickets are $40 per person, $25 for senior citizens and youth guests and $320 for a table of eight.
The theme for this year’s event is “Stand Up.” Personal acts of courage in the areas of media, social arts, economics and sports will be recognized. Clarence Sevillian, President & CEO of McLaren Oakland, will be honored for his courage to stand and make a difference in the community.
